Mayor Pro Tem Suzanne Tucker

Mayor Pro Tem Suzanne Tucker

Suzanne was elected to her third term as a Tracy City Councilwoman in November 2006 and was appointed by the current Council to be the Mayor Pro Tem. First elected to the Tracy City Council in 1998, Tucker has gained a reputation as a trusted leader fighting on behalf of taxpayers, property owners and small businesses.

Prior to her tenure on the Tracy City Council, Suzanne was a member of the Tracy Unified School Board, where she led efforts to lower the Mello Roos tax assessment for local residents. Her belief in holding government accountable was the primary reason for her decision to run for public office, and her success as an elected official has been directly tied to her fundamental belief in putting taxpayers first.

As a Member of the Tracy City Council, Tucker serves as the Council Liaison to the Economic Development Committee, the City-School Liaison Committee, the TAPFFA Board, the San Joaquin Partnership and as Mayor Pro Tem, stands in for the Mayor at events the Mayor cannot attend.

As a School Board Trustee from 1994 until her election to the Tracy City Council, Suzanne Tucker was a strong and forceful voice for education reform as a School Board Trustee in Tracy. She was appointed to the Tracy Area Public Facilities Financing Agency (TAPFFA) - a Joint Powers Authority setting tax rates within the Community Facility District. Her leadership on that agency resulted in a significant reduction in the Mello Roos tax paid by local homeowners.

Suzanne was raised in a farming family in North Carolina and is the oldest of six girls. She worked her way through college and earned a BA in Psychology from Appalachian State University. She married Sam Tucker in 1980 and they moved to California in 1986. They moved to Tracy in 1992 for the affordable housing Tracy had to offer and this allowed Suzanne to be a full time mom and community volunteer while raising their family in a wonderful family oriented community. Sam works for United Airlines and commutes daily to San Francisco Airport. Suzanne and Sam now have two adult children and two grandchildren. Suzanne and her family are active in the music ministry at their church in Tracy.

Suzanne and her husband Sam have two children.
