Committees and Commissions

The City of Tracy has formed a number of committees and commissions to handle adminstration and decison making for several key areas of the city and interests of its citizens. BUILDING BOARD OF APPEALS: Hears appeals of administrative decisions regarding use of
alternative materials, interpretations pertaining to enforcement of provisions of the Building, Plumbing,
Mechanical, Electrical and Fire Codes and related City regulations. Also considers appeals of
administrative decisions in the application of the Uniform Housing Code, Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings and related sections of the Code in actions declaring certain
building structures or conditions therein substandard, and requiring rehabilitation, reconstruction,
correction or abatement as applicable.



DOWNTOWN PARKING DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARD: Makes recommendations to City Council on
the expenditures of District revenues, the classification of properties and the method and basis of
levying assessments. Ensures the preparation of the Annual District Report as required by law.



PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION: Establishes rules and regulations governing
the conduct of recreation programs, protection of property, and activities of persons in all parks; holds
public hearings on recreation programming and facility usage; advises the City Council on the planning
and development of park and recreation facilities and delivery of recreation and community service
programs.



PLANNING COMMISSION: Prepares and recommends adoption, amendment or repeal of the City's
General Plan; makes recommendations to City officials regarding maps or plats of land in accordance
with the State Subdivision Map Act and City Code; holds hearings on planning and zoning matters
pursuant State and City laws; advises and recommends acquisition, use, or disposition of City-owned
property.



SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING: Takes an active role advocating for the needs
of senior citizens in San Joaquin County. “Our mission is to lead in the creation and delivery of
services that improve the quality of life for our community.”



SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT: Takes all necessary steps for the extermination
of mosquitoes and abatement of their breeding places throughout the District, while conforming to all
California Government Codes applicable to public agencies. Board is primarily the overall policymaking
body for the District and sets its goals and objectives.



TRACY ARTS COMMISSION: Encourages, promotes and stimulates the growth of broad based arts
and cultural programs in the community. Pursues and solicits private, regional, state and federal
funding support for arts programs and facilities development. Strives to maintain an active and broad
based representation of community arts interests on the Commission.



TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMISSION:
To provide citizen and community perspective and
input on the development of public transportation planning, facilities and programs. As a Commission
established by the City Council, the Transportation Advisory Commission will take an advisory role,
when providing input to Council for their consideration and action.



YOUTH ADVISORY COMMISSION:
Provides youth with an opportunity to make recommendations to
staff, the Parks and Community Services Commission, City Council and other groups on planning and
implementing programs; holds forums on health, safety, recreation, employment, school related issues,
and concerns of youth.
