Training Division

Tracy Fire’s Training Division is headed by Division Chief Germaine Friends who is supported by a training/administrative Captain.

All members of the Department participate in a significant amount of training. Many subjects are addressed throughout the year. Some of the topics include strategies and tactics of structural firefighting and how to safely and effectively extinguish vegetation fires.

We provide a great deal of in house training in Advanced Life Support (ALS) to keep our Paramedics up to date with current trends in the field and all certifications up to date. Some other training areas covered include Swift Water Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, and Hazardous Materials Response, just to name a few.

In our recently remodeled administrative building we have a state of the art classroom where we host a variety of classes. These classes draw firefighters from around the state looking to further their education.

Tracy Fire has recently received a burn trailer that was purchased from money obtained through a Federal grant. This burn trailer allows us to simulate the conditions and fire behavior that we might encounter in a structure fire. It helps us keep our skills sharp as well as providing valuable experience for new firefighters who have not yet been exposed to the conditions inside a burning building.
