“The Mix” is open to all Tracy teens who want a safe and fun environment to hang out in on and off school seasons. We have a variety of activities to choose from including outdoor basketball, cooking classes, pool tables, big screen T.V., movies, PS2, Guitar Hero, computers and much more. Stop by and check us out.

City of Tracy Youth Advisory Commission (YAC)

If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved, stay informed, and help generate activities for your peers, the Youth Advisory Commission is the answer! The Youth Advisory Commission (Y.A.C.) offers an opportunity to get involved in the community. The City is recruiting new commission members on an on-going basis. Responsibilities include: attending monthly meetings, attending teamwork trainings, volunteering, and participating in subcommittee planning groups.  If you are interested in serving a one or two-year term, applications are available at the Parks and Community Services Department and The Mix.  For further information call 831-6200 or email yac@ci.tracy.ca.us. Deadline to submit your application is April 16, 2008.

 
 

S.A.F.E.

The Parks and Community Services Department has collaborated with the Tracy Unified School district to bring our programs closer to teens. “The Mix” will be on campus at William’s Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We want to be where the teens are. Join us for some fun, and exciting after school fun, exciting, and physical activities. S.A.F.E. will focus on team building, education, recreation, Health, and physical fitness.

Friday Night Chill Out

Come and relax at 'The Mix'. Wear your Pajamas and bring a pillow. 'The Mix' will have an evening of fun every other Friday night. Lay back and relax while you enjoy a bowl of popcorn and a popular flick. If you have a movie of your own that you would like to share, feel free to bring it!

Teen Dance

The Mix will host a dance for middle school teens.  Space is limited.  You can purchase your ticket prior to each dance at The Mix, Parks and Community Services Department or online at www.ci.tracy.ca.us.  Purchase your tickets early to avoid long waits in line. Beverages and glow sticks will be available for sale. Appropriate dress and behavior is required to attend the dance. You must show a valid student ID to enter. No Exceptions. See you there!

Teen Healthy Cooking Class

Join us at The Mix for a fun and exciting cooking class.  Learn how to prepare meals that your whole family will enjoy. Enjoy and learn practical skills that will help you become a better cook. You will learn easy techniques that will familiarize you with the kitchen.  The cooking class will be on the first Fridays of each month from 4:30p.m.-6:00p.m. All meals will be part of our Health Habits program.

Hip Hop Dance Competition

Come out and support Tracy's talent. The City of Tracy Parks and Community Services Department and the Youth Advisory Competition are putting on a teen only Hip Hop Dance off. Come and check out what Tracy's teens have to offer on the dance floor. See you there!

Hip Hop Competitors

If you have what it takes to please a crowd and a panel of judges now is your time to shine. The theme of the competition is hip hop but all participants are encouraged to take any style of dance and put a hip hop twist on it. Groove on down to the Parks and Community Services Department to register, or register online at www.ci.tracy.ca.us.  The competition is for individuals or groups that want to share their talent with the community.

Teen Ski Trip

Ski or Snowboard

Join the fun! Once again we will be taking our annual ski trip to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. Trip fee includes: transportation, lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental & lesson (optional).  Please bring your own lunch or money to buy lunch. We will depart from the Parks & Community Services Department, 400 E. 10th Street, at 6a.m. sharp and will return to the same location at approximately 6p.m.  All participants must be registered by a parent or guardian and have all paperwork completed prior to departure. The last day to register is January 25th. PLEASE REMEMBER THERE IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY.

Chess

Are you a part of a chess club? Need a place to practice, or just looking for a chance to learn the techniques of being an awesome chess player? “The Mix” is the place to be. Come and join other chess players and improve your skill.

 

Gardening Class

If you don’t mind a little dirt and some fun to go along, “The Mix” is the place to be. Join our new Gardening class at “The Mix” and enjoy some fresh vegetables and the sweet smell of flowers. Help teens from “The Mix”, YAC and staff make Tracy’s teen center a more beautiful place to be. If you are a part of an Agricultural science class at one of Tracy’s schools, feel free to share your experience and gain some community service hours.

 

Floral Culture

Have you ever had an interest in nature or flowers? Join us at the mix in learning how to create beautiful center pieces and decorations. We will also have the opportunity to use flowers from “The Mix’s” very own garden or silk flowers that will never lose their beauty. Who knows… maybe one day you can own your own boutique.

 

Guitar Hero

Do you think you’re the ultimate guitar hero champion? Stop by “The Mix” and put your quick fingers to the test. Challenge staff and other teens at “The Mix” in an upbeat musical competition that will get your energy levels up. See you there!

 

Speed Stack

How fast can you move your hands? Come by “The Mix” and find out. Take a chance and go against an opponent or even the clock to see how fast your cans stack and take down a set of 12 cups. Become one of the worlds most talented teens. Move your hands like magic at “The Mix”. I challenge you!

 

Dance Dance Revolution

How fast can you move to the groove? Come to “The Mix” and find out if you have what it takes to stomp your feet to the sound of the beat. DDR is not only a fun and exciting game, but it also helps maintain a fit and active life style. Dance your way to fun at the teen center.
