Field Operations

The Field Operations Bureau has the most contact with our community. Of the 91 sworn Tracy Police Officers, over 62 are in this bureau and are uniformed patrol officers.

Field Operations Bureau personnel address a wide variety of policing problems and are assigned to Patrol, K9, SWAT and Traffic.  Also in Field Operations are non-sworn personnel that also respond to calls for service.  These assignments include Community Service Officers, Traffic Interns and Police Assistants.

The heart and soul of the Field Operations Bureau is the uniformed police officer who is responsible for providing the round-the-clock “first responder” capability of the Police Department. Many of these officers work nights, weekends, and holidays, in good weather and in bad. The officers of the Field Operations Bureau respond to all types of calls, from parking complaints to crimes against persons.  When not answering calls for service, officers are responsible for self-initiated activity in enforcing our laws, addressing quality of life issues or preventing crime through their interaction with the public.

During the past year, officers were involved in over 52,000 calls for service and 35,000 self-initiated contacts.  Over 12,000 reports were filed in 2006.
