For Residents:
Tracy is a growing community of nearly 82,000 residents located in the beautiful northern San Joaquin Valley. We’re 60 miles east of San Francisco and have easy access to neighboring communities and beyond via Interstates 5 and 580…as well as a municipal airport.
In 2007, Tracy was ranked the 17th safest city in California and the 56th safest in the country.
Our “small town” yet bustling atmosphere is based on well-planned growth and progress from a pro-business, pro-active government. We have beautiful parks, plenty of open spaces, a low crime rate, quality schools, and more affordable housing prices than other communities in the northern San Joaquin (WAH–keen) Valley region.
Our historic downtown is undergoing revitalization and serves as the commercial/retail center of the greater Tracy area. Events such as the weekly farmers market and the annual California Dry Bean Festival attract thousands to our downtown area, benefiting the local economy.
Tracy is more than a location. It’s a place where families and businesses can thrive.Blessed with an abundance of natural resources and a superb location, we are proud of the enviable quality of life that we can offer our residents. From our quality healthcare to our exceptional schools…Tracy is truly a community for everyone.
Once you visit us, you’ll see that our city is someplace special. We invite you to build your dreams here… a community of endless opportunities!
We have four main shopping areas: Historic Downtown Tracy, West Valley Mall, the I-205 Corridor and Prime Outlets. There are more than 500 local businesses located in these four dynamic areas, ranging from small mom and pop businesses to large retail stores like Wal-Mart, Home Depot and other national chain stores.
Bring your appetite when you come to Tracy because we have enough diverse dining options to satisfy every palate. Linger over a cup of coffee at one of our coffeehouses, savor a great steak, enjoy authentic Italian, Mexican or Japanese…whatever your mood…we promise you…and your stomach…a dining experience to treasure.
